Boxercise

Boxercise is an exercise class based on boxing principles using pads and gloves (so no one gets punched or hurt!), learning all the major punches and all to inspirational music.

It's often done in a circuit format but can also involve all sorts of boxing activities and relays such as punch bag, boxing stations, skipping, medicine ball, speed ball and many fun boxing style relays.

Boxercise uses most of the major muscle groups particularly, shoulders, chest, back, core (abs) and legs. In the past several national newspapers have voted Boxercise the best overall exercise class. Even better, Boxercise can also be done on a 1:1 PT basis and is perfect to include as part of a personal training programme. Click here for answers to FAQs.

  3. Q: What is the format of the Boxercise class?
A: The first part of the class is based on a circuit format, with different stations each 2 minutes in duration. Most of the stations involving boxing or boxing related activities, e.g. skipping or medicine ball work. The second part is based around group activities some involving relays, e.g. running followed by press-ups and then punching pads. We usually have a dedicated 'abs' section too. There is always variety and fun!

  4. Q: How will Boxercise benefit me?
A: Boxercise uses most of the major muscle groups, particularly shoulders, core and legs to develop increased strength, power & agility. It is a great CV work out and fat burner (burns @600 calories per hour). It will increase your stamina and endurance and improves hand – eye and feet co-ordination. 6. Q: Does it include kickboxing?
    A: No, that is different.

  7. Q: Is Boxercise suitable for all ages, groups and men and women?
A: Yes. Boxercise is very popular amongst women, so don't think it is just for men! Anyone can have a go, there is no upper age limit. Boxercise is also great for children, especially those who do not take part in a particular sport and who are looking for an activity. It helps teach children discipline! There is a minimum age of for children and I teach children's classes all the way up to 18 although after 16 they can take part on their own in the adult class. They can join in adult classes before they are 16 provided they come with and participate throughout with their parent/guardian, another child of the same age, or me as the instructor (with parent's consent).

  9. Q: How long does the class last?
A: Most classes will last 1 hour. I do run some longer classes of about 1 ½ hours at Basingstoke Country Hotel. I will tailor the class to suit your needs and if you cannot stay for the whole class that is no problem, just stretch out when you get home.
